New Trident Collection

Trident – redefined… Christopher Ward announce a stunning new expression of their iconic C60 Trident Dive/Sport family with a radical re-engineering and design advancement across the new generation of the brand’s most popular range. From the stunning new entry-level quartz to the flagship COSC model incorporating Christopher Ward’s first in-house movement, Calibre SH21 – the new Trident collection establishes a raised benchmark of enhanced quality and choice at every price point.

The C60 Trident Pro and C60 Trident GMT remain at the heart of the Trident collection, powered by the same proven movements, which is enhanced by a swathe of innovations across the range. The new arrivals are led by the flagship C60 Trident COSC, featuring Christopher Ward’s in-house movement, Calibre SH21, at the heart of this chronometer version – only the second model to carry the pioneering innovation.

Equally audacious and innovative, however, is the arrival of an entry-level quartz model, C60 Trident 300, using the Ronda 515 calibre.

Trident – re-engineered…Extensive re-engineering utilises upgraded materials, combined with design enhancements that unmistakably express the Trident family DNA, complemented by the retention of iconic features such as the hands, Trident counter- balance and wave pattern guilloche dial of the original. The new baton-style indexes of the mechanical versions are deep-filled with the new SuperLuminovaTM SLN T C1 lume paint to provide brighter and extended luminosity above that of the Mark 1 model.

The new Trident case, in marine-grade 316L steel, clearly echoes the design of the original but has been comprehensively re-engineered, including sharper and improved architecture and finishing. The three mechanical versions are capable of withstanding water pressure at up to 600m (2000ft) and have been upgraded to include zirconia ceramic (Zr02) bezels while the quartz version has retained the aluminium bezel of the original and, as denoted by the name, is capable of depths to 300m (1000ft).

This detailed re-definition of Trident extends to the case-back, with the Trident logo deep- stamped into the stainless steel plate, producing a 3D appearance that was first seen in the C65 Trident Classic.
Choice – re-defined… Complementing the expanded range of model, case size, movement and bezel combinations are re-designed natural rubber dive straps, Italian leather straps, a leather NATO strap and a marine-grade stainless steel bracelet, creating a stunning choice menu of 133 versions of Trident to suit anyone, anywhere, any time.

Mike France, co-founder of Christopher Ward, explains the strategy behind the audacious re-definition of the Trident collection: “We like to set ourselves challenges at Christopher Ward, this time deciding to review our best-selling range to see just how much higher we could take it in both technology and design to introduce an extensive palette choice of size, colour and strap permutations. We are particularly excited that the flagship C60 Trident COSC model incorporates our own in-house movement, Calibre SH21.

“The new Trident, remains true to its heritage, yet re-defines the model itself and brings more flexibility and affordability; in fact we believe it’s sets a new standard in the value- quality equation for the industry, enabling the opportunity to own the optimal Dive timepiece at each price level. With the technical credibility to satisfy dive pros and the style to match any occasion, the new collection will open Trident to an even wider audience and further strengthen its iconic standing.”

The re-engineered C60 Trident collection directly replaces and enhances the brand’s global best-selling range, launched in 2009, creating a stunning new expression of the Trident family values.

Zenith Pilot Type 20

I was most fortunate to be able to see and check out this watch, even for a short time. I have to say that it is a very nice watch and pictures, does it no justice. It is a watch that you have to see in person. I like it.

The Zenith Pilot Type 20 GMT 1903. It is a limited edition run of only 1,903 pieces. I understand that about 40 pieces were allocated to Taiwan and all have been sold and very fast at that. Hope more pieces makes it here.

The watch...

This is my (very poor) photographs of the watch I saw.

Very well made and indeed a beautiful watch. I do like it. The finish is great as is the build quality. And I do like the vintage looking Arabic (SuperLuminova) hour markers.

The watch is currently fitted out with a WotanCraft ammo strap.
