A Man and his watch...

This is a pretty interesting book. It basically about watches and its owner and a bit of back ground about the man and his watch. It is a cool book. 

As what is written on the outer sleeve, the book is about iconic watches and stories from the men who wore them. What is nice is the watches shown are iconic to the owners and not limited to expensive watches. 

The book is a hard cover book and the front cover is nice. The watch is embossed (is that the right word?)

Would I recommend the book? Yeah if you want to know a bit more about what drives some people getting the watches they got, why not. And best of all... the numerous photographs of some very nice and unique watches in the book. That to me, covers the price of entry. And I like the book.

Seiko Monster Gen 4...

It looks like the Seiko Monsters, Gen 4 have finally made it to Taiwan shores. Sadly only 2 of the 3 models are being sold here.

Watch spotting .....

There was lots of watch spotting when I was on holiday. Some more interesting then others... :)

The Laco display at Red Army Watches in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. I have to admit, the selection is awesome.

Azimuth Mr. Roboto R2 at the same shop as the Laco. I have to admit that I have always like the design of the watch. Maybe one day....

A new pickup...

I got this watch (from a friend) on my recent holiday. It is basically a brand less watch but I like it. I like the design and layout of the watch dial.

The watch...

I am sure the watch is assembled in China with parts sourced from the same place. But I have to say that I am pretty impressed by the overall build quality. I was told that it retails around USD150 to USD200. It comes in at 44mm.

I do like the fact that the sweep seconds register is at the 6 o'clock position instead of the usual 9 o'clock. And the lume on the watch is not bad. It glows blue (see post below).

The Asian movement is based on the Unitas/ ETA 6498. I like the display back and the attempts to decorate the movement.

Closer view of the movement. Who knows, maybe I might just change the movement. I am sure I have an ETA 6498 somewhere. :)

The long hand of the fast/ slow indicator reminds me of another watch that have the same type display.

The leather strap. The strap will be changed eventually. Perhaps this time I will try a different manufacturer. 

The pin buckle... looks familiar? Well the design of the strap is also familiar no? I will review the watch soon. :)

Going retro....

One of the brands I really like for the longest time is actually Rado but I never got any watches from the brand. And from the brand, the watch I like most is the DiaStar that Rado released in 1962. 

Anyway on the last holiday, I was at Pavilion Mall in Kuala Lumour for the IWC Exhibition when I walk passed this store. 

It was the Rado Boutique. I was really tempted to see what they had and when I saw these in the shop window...

Prices... out of touch...

I am really out of touch with the prices of preloved watches.  On my last holiday, I spotted these watches and the prices were not what I expected....

Hermle Clocks..

I spotted these clocks at Hings Watch in BSC, my favorite watch shop in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia when I was back for a holiday. I have no knowledge of the clocks but have to say that the clocks are very nice.

Hermle clocks are made in Germany where they originate from. The brand was established in 1922 and is still a family owned business. The clocks are still made in Germany.  Cool...
