Casio G-Shock book...

I was at the book shop today when I saw this book and for sure I have to pick it up...

This book is from Korea and it is an awesome book. I have one of their earlier publication and since I like that book and know the quality of the publication, I had to get this one.

Most interesting part of the book.... interview with Mr. Kikuo Ibe. He is the inventor of the Casio G-Shock.

This section of the book is just as interesting. It shows the testing that is carried out on the watches. 

Some of the collaboration that Casio has with other brands. It is very eye opening. 

I am certainly not disappointed with the book and would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn about the history of G-Shock and all about the watch. 

Additionally I found out that they (the publisher) have another book on another brand and I have ordered the book. I will update once I get that book. 

What started out as a planned battery change...

The battery change season continues. This one ended up a bit different. The is my DW-6900 and it looks like it needs a bit more tender loving care then a simple battery change. 

It looks like it has fogged up.

It is one of the few Casio G-Shock that I have that has the plastic buckle. The others have the SS buckle. 

Open up the case back. 

The case back removed. Checked the rubber gasket. A bit dry. Time to lubricate.

Module removed. I will clean the crystal first before changing the battery.

Now I need to remove the dial? Face plate?

After cleaning with a bit of alcohol. This may not be the recommended or correct way to clean the inside of the watch. If in doubt, best to send to your local Casio Service Center. 

Module back in and ready for battery change.

Old battery ready to be removed. 

New battery installed. Don't forget to reset the module. 

Everything transferred to the watch side and ready to be closed.

What started out as battery change

Well, I got the replacement bezel. Not the same but I guess it will do...

The module ready for the bezel. Remember to clean the module before you install the bezel.

Installing is easy. Just slide the bezel onto the module. I suggest you start with the side with the two protruding buttons, ie the right side. 

It is easier to slide the left side as this side has only one button that sticks out, the adjust button does not stick out as much. 

Bezel installed. 

Check that all the buttons work properly before you install the screws.

Install the screws. Do not over tighten the screws. You do not want to damage the module. 

All done and time to install the straps. 

Happy I am. 

What I do late at night.....

It was late at night and I could not sleep. So what did I do?

Yeah another battery change...

Getting batteries late a night was not a problem as there is a 7-11 just around the corner from where I stay. And the best part about Casio G-Shock is that they tend to use batteries that are pretty common and easily available.

Remove the end pieces... I remember my last battery change. :)

Unlatch the locking retainer. 

New battery in. 

Transfer the gasket and rubber spacer from the case back to the movement side. This is ensure the gasket and spacer sits in the right place. And don't forget to lubricate the gasket.

And don't forget to reset the module before closing up the case back.

All done.

I don't have the original blue strap for the watch and it is currently mounted on a blue/ gray NATO strap. I will need to check with my local Casio Service Center if they have the original straps.
