I was at the book shop today when I saw this book and for sure I have to pick it up...

This book is from Korea and it is an awesome book. I have one of their earlier publication and since I like that book and know the quality of the publication, I had to get this one.

Most interesting part of the book.... interview with Mr. Kikuo Ibe. He is the inventor of the Casio G-Shock.

This section of the book is just as interesting. It shows the testing that is carried out on the watches. 

Some of the collaboration that Casio has with other brands. It is very eye opening. 

I am certainly not disappointed with the book and would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn about the history of G-Shock and all about the watch. 

Additionally I found out that they (the publisher) have another book on another brand and I have ordered the book. I will update once I get that book. 

A Man and his watch...

This is a pretty interesting book. It basically about watches and its owner and a bit of back ground about the man and his watch. It is a cool book. 

As what is written on the outer sleeve, the book is about iconic watches and stories from the men who wore them. What is nice is the watches shown are iconic to the owners and not limited to expensive watches. 

The book is a hard cover book and the front cover is nice. The watch is embossed (is that the right word?)

Would I recommend the book? Yeah if you want to know a bit more about what drives some people getting the watches they got, why not. And best of all... the numerous photographs of some very nice and unique watches in the book. That to me, covers the price of entry. And I like the book.

Book review...

Well, sort of book review. Perhaps a mook review would be a better description. :)

Anyway I saw this mook at a bookshop here in Taipei and even though I cannot read Japanese, I decided to get the book. I know that most Japanese mook have lots of pictures and it would be interesting to look through the mook. It helps that the mook is not expensive. 

The mook is from 2005, so I guess it explains the price. :)

The mook, Rolex Beginner's Handbook. The handbook covers the breath and depth of the subject matter pretty well. There are lots of pictures and you can basically make out what it being shown.

Table of contents. Basically it covers all the watches offered by Rolex, some in more detail and some just a mentioned. I have to say that the handbook is biased towards the Rolex Sports Collection.

Rolex history is covered pretty well. 

The handbook does show the progression of models from the first to the current (2015).

Other offerings from Rolex is also covered.

As stated earlier, there is biased towards the Rolex Sports Collection. 

A detail historical map of the progression of each model.

There are many blowout or cut out photographs of the various models. 

And there is a how to use guide of the various models shown. It also covers how to use the various bracelets Rolex have. 

Overall I have to say that the handbook is comprehensive in its coverage and does deliver what it promise, a beginner's handbook. In reality, I have to say there are things in the book that even 'experts' may not know.

The index. Not bad in terms of brand coverage. Makes an interesting reference.

There is a brief about the brands before they list the prices of the watches. To be honest? There are mistakes.... :(

Would I recommend the book? Yes, as at USD35, it makes an acceptable reference guide.
