Magrette Timepieces Launches Moana Pacific Waterman Vintage

AUCKLAND, New Zealand — October 9, 2020 — Magrette Timepieces launches today the 2nd Edition of the popular Moana Pacific Waterman Bronze and the new Waterman Vintage in steel.

The original Waterman arrived in 2016, integrating classic styling and vintage cues in a 42mm case that was quickly embraced by watch enthusiasts. In 2019 the Waterman Bronze expanded the lineup with a cool blue dial set against the warmth of CuSn8 bronze; this first release quickly sold out. The second edition addresses built-up demand while adding a new colourway with “velvet black” dial and black ceramic bezel, complemented by the warmth of Old Radium Super-LumiNova®. Both offer a practical dual-time rotating bezel.

The list of quality components includes a box-style sapphire crystal, engraved ceramic bezel fully lumed with Swiss Super-LumiNova®, and screw-down crown with water resistance rated to 500M. Under the hood beats the ETA Caliber 2824-2, a proven and highly regarded Swiss automatic movement widely used throughout the industry. Both timepieces ship with textured rubber strap (blue or black) and vintage minimal-stitch leather with custom buckles. Each presented in Magrette’s custom leather travel case.

Magrette Moana Pacific Waterman Bronze

It has been some time since I reported on Magrette Watches. It looks like they have been busy and for 2019, they will be launching a new watch. 

The watch is the Moana Pacific Waterman Bronze. It is currently at the pre-order stage. I like the look of the watch.

We are very pleased to introduce to the Waterman family the new Waterman Bronze.

The name represents us as New Zealanders and our Māori and Pacific Island whanau, the love of the water. The bronze patina changes every day, like the ocean itself. The symbolism of the blue dial represents the surrounding waters of the Tasman Sea and Pacific Ocean and the gold bronze case the changing landscape of time.

We use a marine grade CuSn8 bronze so when the patina forms, it is hard and can't be scratched off easily, and forms a protective surface layer.

We hope you enjoy the new Waterman Bronze as much as we enjoyed creating it.

Magrette is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Congratulations to Magrette. 

In conjunction with its 10th. Anniversary, it will be releasing a Limited Edition watch in the Moana Pacific Professional Kara.

The Moana Pacific Professional Kara is Magrette's latest premium dive watch and celebrates the brand's 10-year anniversary. Kara (pronounced "cat-rah") is Maori for "flag" and references the use of New Zealand blue, red and white as the color palette. Blue also represents the surrounding waters of the Tasman Sea and the Pacific Ocean. The association with the national flag and colors underscores the deep pride Magrette takes in being a New Zealand watch brand.

This watch introduces a Grade 5 titanium case (noted for its superior tensile strength and surface hardness) for the first time in Magrette's dive collection. In addition to titanium's exceptional corrosion resistance and high strength-to weight ratio the Kara is built for the toughest aquatic environments with a water resistance rating of 500M, large screw-down crown with safety alert collar, scratch resistant sapphire crystal, and engraved ceramic bezel insert. The Moana Pacific Professional Kara is powered by the automatic Caliber STP-11 from Swiss Technology Production SA. This movement along with a new custom winding rotor is visible through a sapphire casebook, another first in the Moana Pacific Pro legacy.

Magrette Vantage Bronze

Magrette Watches is proud to announce the release of the Vantage Bronze watch. The watch will be available from May 2015 and is currently in the pre-order stage.

 

 

Some features of the Vantage Bronze include thick double domed sapphire crystal, Super Luminova hands and dial, cut out markers on dial. With a few more other subtle features like the DLC case back with anti finger-print coating.

 

 

The dials are made of two discs on top of each other with cut-outs for the indices, often referred to as a "sandwich-dial". Super Luminova (C3 greenish for black dial version and Vintage radium color for brown dial version) will ensure visibility in dark conditions.

 

 

The engine of this timepiece is a self-winding movement with hacking feature (MIYOTA 9015). It is reliable and accurate and is a very durable movement. This movement is positioned between the well known ETA 2824 and more luxurious 2892 movements.

Vantage Bronze

Magrette Regattare Carbon

Magrette is excited to announce the very limited release of the Regattare Carbon.

Our limited release consists of ten pieces.

Watch enthusiasts will know about forged carbon as used by high end Swiss watch brands and other luxury manufacturers in both the car and yacht industries.  In forged composites, short pieces of carbon fiber thread are mixed with resin, placed into a heated mold and then cured under high pressure. It makes great material for watch cases as it is light and extremely strong.

The Regattare Carbon is finished off with a screw-in case back made from titanium. The crown is also titanium, but with a black DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating.  You will note that the crown is positioned at 9 o'clock. The dial itself is a sandwich construction, meaning there are two parts placed on top of each which creates a 3D effect. C3 Super Luminova will be used to ensure good visibility in low light conditions. Inside the case, there is the Swiss made ETA 2824 automatic movement which takes care of the actual functions of the watch. 

The timepiece comes with two straps; both are the Magrette branded straps (rubber and black leather).  The Regattare Carbon will be packaged in the luxurious Magrette travel case.

Magrette Regattare Carbon

Magrette Dual Time Watch

Magrette will be introducing a new watch in the Magrette Dual Time. The new Dual Time features a new 42mm (without crowns) size case, allowing more people to enjoy wearing this eloquent looking watch than before.

The inner bezel ring can be adjusted by the upper crown to act as second time zone. A feature that is very functional for the frequent traveller or people with business partners in another time zone.

The watch comes in 4 different color combinations, all limited to 500 pieces worldwide. The stainless steel versions have a brushed case with polished bezel. The black PVD versions look matte because of the bead blasted finish of the stainless steel beneath.

The back side shows an engraving of the Frigatebird. A bird that also appears on ancient polynesian star compass maps for navigation.

The Frigatebird, with a wingspan that can reach 2-3 meters, is known to stay in the air for up to a week, feeding itself by snatching prey from the sea surface. A great symbol for exploration and freedom, the spirit of this watch in a nutshell.

Magrette Leoncino White

Hot on the heels of the soon to be released Magrette Leoncino (year end), comes a variation to the theme. Have to say that I like this version. Introducing the Leoncino White. It will be a limited edition of only 667 pieces. The specifications will be the same as the original Leoncino.
