G-Shock 30th Anniversary Mook

As promised, a review (of sorts) on the G-Shock 30th Anniversary Mook. I understand the Mook has been out sometime, but I just got my copy. Yes, I am a tad slow. The interesting thing is, I am collecting the Mook/ books on Casio G-Shock but no longer collecting them (in fact selling them..).

Anyway, the Mook...

You don't need to know Japanese to appreciate the Mook. It also makes a great reference guide.

Shows the watches Casio have produced. Awesome.

A view of the Casio G-Shock factory.

Shows the innovations and development of the Casio G-Shock watches...

Best of all, a guide of all models produced by Casio and sold in Japan (local region variations not included) since 1983. Great reference guide. Sorted by year of issue (in Japan).

Overall a great Mook to get, both for collectors and non-collectors.

Shot with Fuji X-100 on shaky hands. :)

G-Shock 30th Anniversary mook...

I just got this mook and was planning to do a write up on it. However, plans changed no thanks to the cat...

My new bed.

Write up coming soon....

Bell & Ross Tribute to D-Day Heroes..

Bell&Ross will be releasing 3 watches as a tribute to the D-Day Heroes. The watches, will be based on the BR126 model. The BR126 Insignia will carry on the dial of the watch (at 6 o'clock) the insignia of the nations of the main countries which were involved in WWII. These insignia are the ones that appear on the wings and fuselage of the plane in WWII. These is further displayed on the straps.

The watches comes in at 41mm, matte black PVD case. The white hands and index markers are luminous to ensure legibility both during the day and night. To further give the watch a vintage look, a double domed sapphire crystal is used. The watch will be water resistant to 10 ATM.

The watches...

From left, France, UK and USA.

I understand the watches will be available from September 2014 and will be distributed only in the countries represented on the dial.

Double trouble...

My wife finally 'found' her Ice Watch that she 'lost'. Evidently it was in one of her many pouches. Anyway, as luck would have it, the battery in both watches were dead...

A romantic view of both watches...

The pair...

Tools out..

Disconnect the clasp to have easy access to the case back...

Locate the opening tab on the case back. While the case back have the pseudo notches to make it look like the case back is a screw down case back, it is not.

The snap back case back.

Closer view. Not too sure what the marking on the sticker means.... :)

The movement and the spacer cum battery holder.

The movement, Miyota.

Closer view. Unadjusted, 0 jewels.

Since the watch is a quartz watch, better to pull out the crown to disconnect the circuit.

The spacer cum batter holder.

The movement and the bottom of the dial.

To remove the battery, you need to push this lever aside. The battery will pop out.

A closer view (not really).

The battery.

The new batteries. Two for the pair.

The new battery in. Remember to use a non metallic tweezers to put the battery in. Don't want to damage the circuit.

Spacer in. Check the watch is working before you close the case back. And don't forget to lubricate the gasket.

The watch, all ready to go.

Since I was changing the battery to this Ice Watch, better change the battery to the other Ice Watches I have... (did I say I have?)

The Tron Ice Watch...

The Time Roller...

All done, ready to close.

Another happy watch.

SD....

My daily wear... Basically I am trying to cut down.... :(

My Sea Dweller reference 16600...

And effects of being an elephant...

The edge of the lug is dented... and scratched.

Nicks along the bottom edge of the watch...

Oh well....
