Seiko shopping in Japan

How I love Seiko in Japan.....

There are Seiko sold in Japan that are not made in Japan. Even more interesting is that there are Seiko watches that are only for the Japanese market and are not made in Japan.

Seiko Astron.

Very close to buying, very close indeed.

Tudor collection...

My Tudor collection or what it use to be....

Well this 7016 is still with me. All original period correct parts. I should look for a bracelet for the watch.:)

Closest I got to an original Ranger.

Modern Ranger.

Was looking to complete the set of 79xxxS trio. I guess not.

I actually had this watch twice. Bought and sold and bought and sold again. Best part? First one had punched papers and second has the more modern card type papers.

First modern Tudor. I like this watch.

The Black Bay twins. Last of the ETA powered Black Bay models.

The Pelagos twin. One ETA, the other in-house. One left, the other right.

Bracelet adjustment Casio GMW-B5000D-1

This is one of the hottest Casio models in recent history. It is the Casio G-Shock model GMW-B5000D-1. It is a full metal G-Shock and comes in the DW-5000/ DW-5600 guise. I like the watch.

The Casio G-Shock GMW-B5000D-1.

It comes with a full metal stainless steel bracelet. I have to say that it is a very well made bracelet.

The clasp. Again well made and very nice.

To resize, first disconnect the bracelet from the clasp.

The spring bar connecting the bracelet to the clasp. Don't lose it.

As you can see, there are no indications on how to remove the links. It is very easy to remove. The links are held together by tiny spring bars. It makes adjustments easy.

The links disconnected.

The tiny spring bar holding the links together.

The spring bar sits in the center link.

Adjustment all done. It was fast and easy. Just be careful not to lose any of the tiny spring bars.

Lume shot...

It has been a while but this is one I just got...

This is an interesting one. And no it is not an IWC or JLC but it is a homage to the Mk XI watches. It is from MKII and it the Hawkinge. It is part of their ready to wear collection.

What has happen since...

I know it has been a long time since I last posted or updated the blog but basically I have had the following happen.

I am trying out another hobby.

I have slowed down on buying new watches. In fact I have not bought anything for myself for sometime. I have bought a few watches but those have been sold almost immediately. I have also bought watches on behalf of friends.

That does not mean I will not be buying watches. I would if I could but sadly the watches or brands that I like have increased their prices beyond my means or beyond the value I place on the watches from those brands.

Additionally, some brands have embarked on rather questionable sales practises which I cannot support or subscribe to. That does not mean I would not buy from those brands but I guess until that 'bubble' burst, or that I can buy at retail, it will be sometime before I buy from them.

I have also rationalized my collection down to a few (very few in fact) watches and I see that will remain for sometime.

I have also slowed down on tinkering on watches, passing them to professionals for any work that is required.

Anyway, I will be posting more on this blog but it will not be as much as before.

To those who have stayed on with this adventure, I say thank you. To those who have left, I hope you have enjoyed the adventure and who knows maybe our paths will cross once again in the future.
