Frederique Constant iPhone Application

This iPhone application from Frederique Constant focuses on its new watch, the Frederique Constant Junior watch. This range of watches (there are 3 basic models) is dedicated to the young gentlemen, 12 to 16 years of age. The unique aspect of the watch is that there is a dedicated place on the case back where you can engrave your message, thus creating a unique time piece.

Do visit the Frederique Constant Junior watch website for more information. There you will find a module where you can save your message or design and have it integrated into the production of the watch.

Next watch project...

I am looking into my next watch project. Not very sure what to do but looking seriously into doing a homage to the Rolex 5517. This is the milsub (military submariner?) version of the popular Submariner. It is different in that it has sword hands and not the normal Mercedes hands.

I am still toying with the idea. I have found a source (locally) for the case, hands (not very correct), dial (not sterile, at least it is not Rolex) and movement. This time the movement is the Miyota 82XX. So that sorts of limits the hands and dial choice for me as most on-line places that have parts to make this watch are based on ETA 28XX or Seiko 7SXX movement. So we will see how this one goes.

A. Lange & Sohne Event

A. Lange & Sohne will be having a Lange Engraving day at their Dresden Boutique. The event will run from the 20th September to the 25th September 2010. It will start at 1000 hours and end at 1900 hours. During the event, you will be able to watch Langes' master engravers at work. You will also have an opportunity to chat with these master engravers.

The best news of all, is that during the event, if you purchase a watch, a master engraver will engrave your monogram or other motif of significance onto your watch. If you opt to have the engraving on the clasp, the master engraver will engrave it as you watch. If you choose to have it done on the movement, the watch will be sent to the Lange manufacture in Glashutte. How cool is that.

OT a bit...

I finally got the plane I was looking for. It is the HB-HOS. I believe this is the plane that did the Round the World flight for IWC back in 2002 or 2003. It is the Junkers JU-52/3m plane. I was very lucky to be able to see and touch the plane when it did its Round the World trip. That was at that time I got interested in IWC and its Pilot watches.

Basic specifications:

Wing Span: 29.25 m
Length: 18.90 m
Height: 6.10 m
Weight: 6,500 kg
Max take-off weight: 10,500 kg
Cruise speed: 250 - 295 km/h
Range: 1,290 km
Max Altitude: 5,500 m
Passengers: 17
Engines: Pratt & Whitney PW 1340 S1 H1 Wasp

Love the picture of the Big Pilot (the older version that I like) on the wings. It is on the underside of the other wing. OK port side.

Here is my small collection of the plane. From left to right, the IWC plane, HB-HOS Ju-Air (1:250 scale), the Swiss Air force plane, A 703 (1:400 scale) and the Austrian Air Plane, OE-LAM (1:160 scale).

The IWC plane with my IWC mk. XV. It would be nice if I had the Big Pilot 5004.
