Disassembling a Unitas 6325

Please note that this is not a step by step tutorial but rather a reference for myself in the future (just in case).

The movement.

The balance and balance cock removed. Since I do not have a holder for the balance, remember to place it upside-down. You can see the movement number and the old Unitas logo at the 5 o'clock position.

The lever and pallet cock removed.

The escape bar removed. We can see the escape wheel, 3rd. and 4th. wheel.

The wheels removed. We can see that the base plate is pretty dirty.

Next we will remove the click, ratchet wheel and transmission wheel.

The click removed. Careful of the click spring.

The transmission wheel removed. Careful to remove the spacer that comes with the wheel.

The ratchet wheel removed. Note the click spring. Also note how much of gunk there is on the barrel bar.

The barrel bar removed.

Here we can see the crown, winding stem, crown wheel and castle wheel. Just above the stem, we can see the integrated pull out piece and screw. This is the pin that we push to disengage the crown from the movement.

The keyless works; cover plate, return bar and pull out piece.

Another view.

The cover plate removed. We can see the minute wheel, intermediate wheel, return bar and spring and the pull out piece. Careful of the spring as it is under tension.

The spring removed. The long piece that looks like a leg is the return bar. The small piece with the two 'pins' is the integrated pull out piece. Note the grime on the base plate.

The pull out piece. There is a pin that sits on a cut-out on the winding stem. This keeps the winding stem in place and from dropping out of the movement.

The pull out piece removed. We can see the crown, winding stem, castle wheel and crown wheel. We can just see the notch/ cut-out where the pin of the pull out piece sits on the winding stem.

Hope you enjoyed that. I did enjoy taking the movement apart. I will be cleaning the movement soon and will post about that.

  2. Hi Hadisyarief,

Welcome to the blog and thank you for your kind words. With regards to your question, perhaps you can google it. The other option is to identify the movement that is fitted to the watch and search the Internet how to remove the winding stem from the movement. Removing the movement from the case is easier as usually the movement is held by 2 screws that holds the movement to the case. Some movement is held by a plastic or metal ring/ spacer. All you have to do is to remove the screws or spacer and the movement falls out.

If you want, you can drop me a photo of your movement via email and we go from there.

    Hope that helps.

    Best regards,

    Ivan
