The more I look into this watch, the more interested I get. There are currently 2 models available, the non date version, L3.6220.127.116.11 and the date version, L3.618.104.22.168. Now the problem arises that I always thought the original watch issued did not have the date function. How wrong I was. Here are some pictures of the new watch (reissued) and some of the originals.
The Legend Diver No Date L3.622.214.171.124
The Legend Diver with date, L3.6126.96.36.199
The original, no date.

Another version with a different dial, sold in 1962. Also no date.

Then this turns up, a version issued to the RAN. Evidently it was on trial and was not selected. The date version is rare. Notice the dial is different. Yet another Longines watch with military links, the other being the Longines W.W.W. or the 'Greenlander'.

So now the problem lies with To Date or Not To Date....
