Omega W.W.W.

This is an Omega W.W.W. The W.W.W. stands for Watches Wristlet Waterproof. This watch in the pictures are not mine. I wish it was. I want one.......

A bit of history. In the 1940s, the British Ministry of Defence (Mod) wanted to supply watches for its troops. The MoD put out some specifications and 12 companies met these specifications. The companies were:

Buren
Cyma
Eterna
Grana
JLC
Lemania
Longines
IWC
Omega
Record
Timor
Vertex

I believe out of the 12 companies, only Cyma, Eterna, JLC, Longines, IWc and Omega are still an on-going concern. If you have all 12 watches, you would have what is considered the Dirty Dozen.

The common feature of these watches was the W.W.W. engraving on the case back.

Enjoy the pictures.

Anyone got one extra?
