Tag Heuer Popular Diving Spot Limited Edition Watches

I just found out about this series from Tag Heuer. It is the Popular Diving Spot series. The watches in this series are from the 2000 series (Exclusive, Classic or Aquaracer). From what I found (and very limited information), the series started in 2001 and it is an annual affair (every summer). Both men and women are available but not for all years.

All the watches are issued with 'Electric Blue' dial (to represent the sea?). For the women model (not all), the dial is made from mother of Pearl. The case back will be engraved with the map of location featured in that year. The location name will be rendered on the dial along with a icon of some sea creature (diver included) that is native to that location. Some models are quartz and some are mechanical (automatic). All watches are fitted with sapphire crystal as standard.

Most models will offer a water resistance rating of 20 ATM. The newer models will offer 30 ATM.

I believe this series is a Japanese market exclusive series, thus the limited information on the watches.

Well on with it. I will provide as much information as I can find.

  1. Its fun examining your pictures while I wear the real Cayman Edition. The band is wrong, the bezel is wrong, the back is wrong and so is the face.

  3. Hi Peter,

I had a further lookup based on your inputs. This is what I found out:

The watch that you may have is the Tag Heuer Limited Edition Cayman Island Aquaracer. This watch was made for Kirk Freeport on Grand Cayman. It is a limited edition watch of 700 pieces. The model number of this watch is WAF111F.BA0801. This watch carries a blue dial with 2 manta rays.

The Cayman Island watch in the blog entry belongs to the Popular Diving Spot Series that is issued yearly. I also suspect that this watch is a Japan market exclusive. The model number is WN111M.BA0332 and is a limited edition of 2,000 pieces.

If it otherwise, it would help if you can give me the model number of your watch so that I can check further.

    Thank you.

    Best regards,

    Ivan

  5. Hi khomty,

Welcome to the blog. With regards to your question on the Tag Heuer Cayman Island Aquaracer, I don't know why it is not on the Tag Heuer website, but I think that Tag Heuer does not show all the Limited Edition watches on its site. Anyway, from what I know, this particular Tag was produced for Kirk Freeport on Grand Cayman. It may be an in-house model. Specifications: same as the standard Aquaracer, difference being the dial. That is all I have.

    Best regards,

    Ivan

  6. Hi Ivan,

Thank you for your answers. I sold it in shop tag heuer in city. But salesperson told me that not have detail for it. She didn't know this model how to came in this shop and she told me that it strange and never have limited edition watches came to before, except limited edition watches in http://www.tagheuer.com only. So I think this model not popular extremely. Are you think to like me?

    Thank you very much again

    Best regards,

  7. Hi pk,

I think it is not the fault of the sales person if they do not know about limited edition watches. It is not limited to Tag but most brands. More so if the brand have limited editions in certain countries and not others. I don't know if the watch is popular or not. It may just be that it is difficult to find or get. As such it may seem like it is not popular.

    Best regards,

    Ivan
